On 20 August 2026, Ambassador Krit Tankanarat officially opened the Thai Film Festival in Buenos Aires at Atlas Cines Alcorta, where he joined members of the diplomatic corps, the media, and representatives of companies and organizations involved in Argentina’s film and cultural sectors for a screening of the Thai film “Gohan.”

In his opening remarks, the Ambassador highlighted the role of Thai cinema as an important part of Thailand’s creative industries. Beyond showcasing the diversity, creativity, and quality of Thai films, cinema also serves as a bridge that promotes greater cultural understanding and stronger connections between the peoples of Thailand and Argentina, while offering Argentine audiences a window into Thai ways of life, society, and culture.

“Gohan” tells its story through the eyes of a dog across three stages of its life and its experiences with three different owners. Through these stories, the film explores relationships, emotional bonds, and different aspects of everyday life in Thai society. The film was warmly received by the audience, who appreciated its entertaining, heartwarming, and touching story.

The Thai Film Festival in Buenos Aires, held from 21-23 August 2026, features four Thai films: “Gohan,” “Morte Cucina,” “Solids by the Seashore,” and “Regretfully at Dawn.” The Festival offers Argentine audiences an opportunity to experience the diversity of stories, perspectives, and styles in contemporary Thai cinema, while discovering more about Thailand and Thai society through film.

The event forms part of the Thai Film Festival in Latin America 2026, being held in five countries across Latin America, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, the Ministry of Culture of Thailand, and the National Federation of Motion Pictures and Contents Associations.
