The Visa on Arrival allows passport holders from 31 countries and territories to enter Thailand without needing to apply for a tourist visa at a Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate General in advance. This type of visa allows visitors to stay in Thailand for a period of up to 15 days strictly for tourism purposes.

If you plan to visit Thailand for more than 15 days or for any purpose other than tourism, you must apply for a visa at the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate General before your trip.

To obtain a Visa on Arrival, travelers must:

  • Hold citizenship from a country eligible for the Visa on Arrival program.
  • Intend to visit Thailand strictly for tourism purposes.
  • Complete the Visa on Arrival application form (available at immigration checkpoints).
  • Provide a passport-size photo (4 x 6 cm), in compliance with ICAO standards.
  • Show a proof of return flight ticket that indicates departure from Thailand.
  • Show a verifiable proof of accommodations for the entire stay in Thailand.
  • Show a proof of sufficient funds to cover expenses during their stay in Thailand (minimum of 10,000 THB per individual or 20,000 THB per family).

Upon arrival at the airport or land border checkpoint, travelers must go to the Visa on Arrival counter to apply for the visa before final immigration approval. You may be asked to present your departure flight ticket. Entry will be denied if you do not have a proof indicating that you will leave Thailand within the allowed 15-day period.
