On 13 August 2026, Ambassador Krit Tankanarat attended the celebration of the 59th ASEAN Day at the ICBC Foundation in Buenos Aires.

On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Sulaiman Syarif, Ambassador of Indonesia to Argentina and Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Buenos Aires (ACBA); Mr. Fernando Brun, Secretary for International Economic Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Argentina; Mr. Zhang Junguo, President of ICBC Argentina; and Mr. Rallys Eduardo Pliauzer, President of Cámara de Asia, highlighted the role and importance of ASEAN, as well as the potential for expanding cooperation between ASEAN and Argentina in areas including political relations, trade and economic cooperation, technology, tourism and services, and people-to-people ties.

As part of the celebration, the Royal Thai Embassy presented a traditional Thai dance performance to showcase Thai arts and culture. In addition, the five ACBA member countries — Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Malaysia — hosted national food booths, offering participants from Argentina’s public, private, and academic sectors an opportunity to enjoy ASEAN cuisine and experience the region’s rich cultural diversity.

The event provided another important opportunity to raise awareness of ASEAN in Argentina and to further strengthen relations and cooperation between ASEAN and Argentina across various areas.
