On 23 April 2026, Ambassador Krit Tankanarat visited a Muay Thai training session of the Federación Uruguaya de Muay Thai at the Centro de Entrenamiento de Deportes de Combate (CEDEC) in Montevideo. He was warmly welcomed by Mr. Marcos Pereira, President of the Federation and a member of the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA).

The visit reflected the growing popularity of Muay Thai in Uruguay and provided an opportunity to further strengthen appreciation for Muay Thai as both a martial art and an important part of Thailand’s cultural heritage. Muay Thai also serves as a meaningful bridge of friendship and mutual understanding between the peoples of Thailand and Uruguay through sport and culture.
