Today marks the 58th anniversary of the founding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), a vibrant community of over 670 million individuals united by our shared values of peace, stability, prosperity, and collaboration. Our achievements are rooted in the pillars of political-security, economic, and socio-cultural cooperation, guided by principles of mutual respect and shared benefits among member states. Together, the ten nations have established the world’s fourth largest economic bloc as of 2024, highlighting the remarkable strength of our partnership.

In Buenos Aires, the Embassies of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam together form the ASEAN Committee in Buenos Aires (ACBA). Since its inception in 2018, ACBA has served as a bridge between ASEAN and Argentina, fostering stronger relations in trade and investment, education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.

Despite the geographical distance, ASEAN and Argentina are aligned in our values and are increasingly committed to deepening our cooperation. Our political engagement has strengthened, and we are witnessing steady growth in business partnerships, bilateral trade, and investment, with ASEAN-Argentina trade currently valued at approximately USD 8 billion. Cultural and academic exchanges thrive, and ACBA’s initiatives—including the ASEAN Bazaar, business seminars, outreach programs with academics and students, and visits to Argentine provinces—underscore our shared commitment to building long-lasting and meaningful partnerships.

On this special day, the ASEAN Committee in Buenos Aires (ACBA) wishes to reaffirm our strong commitment to our Argentine friends. Together, we aspire to build a future rooted in friendship, sustainable development, and mutual understanding.

Thank you for being part of our journey! Happy ASEAN Day! 🎉🤝
