On 18 April 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Buenos Aires participated in the “BL Day” event to share the richness of the Songkran Festival and Thai culture with young people in Argentina.

During the event, the Embassy delivered a presentation highlighting the significance of Songkran as Thailand’s traditional New Year celebration.
The session emphasized the festival’s core values of gratitude, respect for elders, and the importance of family bonds. Participants also learned about Songkran’s international recognition by UNESCO, which inscribed the festival on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2023.

To encourage a deeper appreciation of Thai culture, the Embassy organized introductory Thai language activities featuring useful vocabulary and expressions related to Songkran celebrations. In addition, a Thai cultural booth offered visitors the opportunity to have their names written in Thai script, attracting approximately 120 participants throughout the event.
