Thailand attaches great importance to the promotion and protection of human rights for all, including LGBTQ+ persons, and continues to advance gender equality and inclusive development.

A major milestone was the Equal Marriage Act, approved in June 2024 and in force since 23 January 2025. Thailand is now the first country in Southeast Asia and the third in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage. The Act also introduces gender-neutral marriage terms, adoption rights, inheritance rights, and raises the minimum marriage age to 18.

Building on this progress, Thailand has submitted a bid to host WorldPride 2030 in Bangkok, with the host city election to take place during the InterPride World Conference 2026 to be held from 29 October to 1 November 2026 in Phuket Province. Voting will be conducted by InterPride members, a global network of civil society organizations working to advance the rights of LGBTQ+ persons.
