The meetings were co-chaired by Ambassador Juan Manuel Navarro, Undersecretary for Foreign Policy, and Ambassador Roberto Alejandro Salafia, Undersecretary for International Economic Relations, representing Argentina. The Thai side was co-chaired by Mrs. Sirilak Niyom, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

 

During the Political Consultations, both sides exchanged views on the current political landscape and foreign policy priorities, leading to constructive discussions on bilateral cooperation. They reviewed progress under the 2025–2027 Development Cooperation Program. They explored opportunities for collaboration in areas such as the peaceful use of nuclear energy, space initiatives, security, counter-narcotics, women’s rights, digital cooperation, and regional developments in Latin America and Southeast Asia.

 

In the Bilateral Economic Consultation, discussions focused on the economic outlook, trade and investment opportunities, and avenues for cultural and sports cooperation, alongside updates on regional and international economic frameworks, including the OECD and the RCEP.

 

These consultations hold particular significance as they coincide with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Argentina. To mark this occasion, both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Devawongse Varopakarn Institute of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the National Foreign Service Institute of Argentina’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship. The agreement reflects a shared commitment to strengthen diplomatic training through exchanges in courses, seminars, and academic activities.
